It’s Gemini Season and another cocktail in my Zodiac Cocktail Series! This month: Fuzzy Navel Sangria which represents those chatty, airy, effervescent Twins of the Zodiac!
Welcome to Gemini season!! Well, technically it is Tuesday but I am personally over Taurus season so let’s start it a day early, shall we?
You can celebrate Gemini season by slightly changing yourself to fit each individual environment while still being uniquely you, knowing a little about a lot of different subjects, not finishing a book/movie/text conversation, starting a friendly debate about something you may or may not know much about, making promises you can’t keep, or learning about a new subject so you can prattle off random facts at your next get-together with friends.
Geminis are a mutable air sign; mutable meaning easily adaptable and flexibly open to change, and air sign meaning intelligent, a great conversationalist, and excellent at expressing their opinions. Geminis are exactly that! Easily the chattiest of the Zodiac, Geminis are always striving to learn new things, and when they pick up a skill, it comes to them lightning fast and with great ease. Gemini’s sign is about the twins, and that creates a duality to their personality: sometimes people construe that as “two-faced”, but it mostly just means that they’re always changing their mind, sometimes within the same fraction of a second, and tend to hold onto opposing views and beliefs within them. Because of this duality, they’re often great multi-taskers since there’s “two” of them at play at all times.
As I mentioned earlier, Geminis LOVE to talk. In fact, they’re the perfect date because they’ll spend the entire time rattling off random facts, things they’ve just learned and the hottest gossip – they’re known to be the gossiper of the Zodiac, so you can bet their information is the most up-to-date. They enjoy being current on the latest things, be it trends, news, or gossip itself.
Geminis are full of nervous energy sometimes, often finding it so difficult to sit still. They’re constantly abuzz and are light on their feet, but can get clumsy if they’re too wrapped up in their thoughts (or audible conversations!). When it comes to personality traits of the Twins, Geminis are extremely friendly and outgoing, intelligent, witty, excellent conversationalists who can strike up a convo with just about anyone (and about anything!), they possess great social skills and love to regale their company with hilarious jokes or funny stories, are curious and love to learn, are great friends who give good advice, and tend to be optimistic and upbeat. When expressed positively, Geminis love to impress people with a random factoid or give practical advice since talking and using their intelligence makes them happy.
When expressed negatively, however, Geminis can be extremely prone to boredom (which can feel like a death sentence for this chatterbox), nervous and restless, fickle and impetuous to change their mind at the drop of a hat, impatient, irritable, likely to tell white lies or exaggerate, unreliable, and overly gossipy. If Geminis don’t have an outlet to express themselves (literally and figuratively) they can turn bitter and overly critical. They can also become impractical with money and tend to be spenders.
Geminis are ruled by Mercury, so they’re quick on their feet and on the move just like Mercury, the eloquent messenger to the Gods was. Mercury is the planet of thought and communication, which makes sense since Geminis are all about communication ? When it comes to looks, Geminis tend to be taller and slimmer or with an active build, strong hands and bright eyes with big smiles.
When I was deciding what to make bubbly Geminis, I wanted something that could serve a crowd since Geminis always draw a crowd whenever they’re telling a tale. I also wanted something with citrus and that was orange, as those are both Geminis flavor and color. Thus this Fuzzy Navel Sangria came about. Knowing a Gemini, they’d make this cocktail for a get-together and then regale their guests with the history of the drink name “fuzzy navel.”
This cocktail has only three ingredients and can easily be doubled or tripled depending on the crowd. It also comes together in seconds and is SO tasty, effervescent, light and refreshing: the perfect summer drink to complement a talkative, happy-go-lucky Gemini!
So bottoms up, Geminis!
