This Copycat Circus Animal Cookie Blizzard is a MUST make when you can’t go through the DQ drive-thru! Super creamy, comes together quickly and tastes AMAZING!
Circus animal cookies are having a major moment and I am loving it.
All of a sudden it feels like they have just exploded back onto the scene, strutting their pink and white sprinkly selves unabashedly and I love every minute of it!
These cookies take me back to childhood in an instant. I remember sitting in my grandma’s den watching Scooby Doo reruns with my brother while we snacked on these straight outta the bag. For some reason, I was always convinced the white ones had more sprinkles whereas my brother thought the same about the pink ones.
And now, the DQ gods have bestowed us with a circus animal cookie Blizzard! The only issue? Some DQ’s are closed at the moment, rendering a bunch of people with animal cookie cravings left to their own devices. What’s an animal cookie-obsessed fan to do?
I’ve gotchu with these Copycat Circus Animal Cookie Blizzards! Super easy, made in minutes, and tastes AMAZING. You need a few key products and some very important steps to create blizzards at home.
First we need to remember that Blizzards are NOT milkshakes, so there will be no addition of milk or cream to this recipe. Rather, they’re kind of like a fluffed and whipped soft-serve-y ice cream treat that typically can be turned upside down without budging. While you can do this with these Blizzards, I wouldn’t recommend it too too much because I think it is better to eat it than to test gravity with it, if ya know what I mean.
Second, we need to whip the ice cream and frosting mixture in order to create the iconic Blizzard texture. I did this in my stand mixer, but it can be done with a hand mixer or blender as well. I recommend hand mixing or using a stand mixer because it is easier to see how things are progressing as it mixes, whereas blenders tend to be too high-powered and could over-mix it easier.
For maximum chill factor (and to keep things nice and frozen) I like to freeze the bowl and stand mixer paddle before making these!

Prep Time15 mins
Total Time15 mins
Servings: 1
Ingredients
- 3 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup (about ½ of a can) canned vanilla frosting cold
- Pink food coloring
- 1/3 cup Circus Animal Cookies coarsely chopped
- Rainbow sprinkles for garnish
Instructions
First, freeze your stand mixer bowl (or the bowl you’ll use to mix with a hand mixer) for about 5-10 minutes or until chilled. Next, mix together the cold canned frosting and pink food coloring, coloring it to your desired shade of pink. Set aside.
Add the ice cream to the chilled bowl and affix your stand mixer with paddle attachment (or plug in your hand mixer). Whip the ice cream on medium-high speed for about 1 minute or until softened but still creamy and thick, scraping down the sides of the bowl if needed.
Add in the pink frosting and Circus Animal Cookies and beat or pulse the mixture for about 2-3 times to just barely incorporate it all together.
Pour or spoon the Blizzard into a cup. If still runny (can happen with the frosting) you can freeze for about 10-15 minutes for the perfect Blizzard-like consistency. Garnish with remaining cookies or sprinkles.
These Blizzards are SO fun and tasty, too!! Love the swirls of pink frosting with the crunch of circus cookies blended throughout!
