Ingredients used to make Slow Cooker Pineapple Pulled Pork Sandwiches:
- Pork roast (a pork shoulder roast, Boston butt (aka a pork butt) will work best, a pork tenderloin roast might dry out)
- Chili powder
- Garlic powder
- Kosher salt
- Ground black pepper
- Ground paprika
- Yellow onion, diced (red onions can work too in a pinch)
- Crushed pineapple
- Pineapple juice
- BBQ sauce
- Brown sugar
- Cloves garlic, minced
- Jalapeños, seeded and finely diced
- Hawaiian hamburger buns (or any kind of bun)
How to make Slow Cooker Pineapple Pulled Pork Sandwiches:
- Spray the crock pot with non-stick cooking spray.
- Place pork roast in the slow cooker.
- In a small bowl, mix together all seasonings.
- Rub seasoning on all sides of the pork roast until all sides all covered.
- In a mixing bowl, combine onion, pineapple, pineapple juice, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and jalapeños.
- Pour sauce on top of pork roast. Cook on LOW heat for 8-9 hours.
- Cook on low heat for 8-10 hours (or high heat for 5-6, but I feel like the pork is more tender if you cook it on low).

Do I need a fat separator for this pineapple barbecue sauce and pork loin recipe?
While you do not need a fat separator for this recipe, if you would like to make gravy to go with the pulled pork sandwiches, it works great for holding the cups of the skimmed broth produced from the large pieces of fat in the roast.
