Sweet, sensual, slow-to-savor and indulgent, these Sparkling Champagne Sorbet Floats perfectly represent strong-willed and decadent Taurus in my Zodiac Cocktail Series!
Welcome to another edition of my Zodiac Cocktail Series!
Tomorrow is the official start date of Taurus season, and you can celebrate by sleeping the day away, going on a self-care shopping spree, standing your ground in a conversation even if you may possibly be wrong, and doing everything in your power to be the coziest person in the room, whether it be napping with a cozy blanket, wearing a cozy sweater, or just having the personality of Garfield the Cat.
Taurus is a fixed Earth sign, which loosely translates to them being extremely locked in their ways and stubborn with a capital-S! Ruled by Venus, the planet of love & lust, Taureans are very sensual creatures and have great sex appeal that comes to them naturally. They are sentimental romantics who love love and getting romantic attention, and they usually get it! They also represent the sign of beauty and luxury and are known to primp and pamper themselves for extended periods of time throughout the day. If you are friends with a female Taurus, you know she probably takes a thousand years to get ready before an event, but don’t you dare rush her!
When it comes to Earth signs, Taurus (and Earth) represents things found in the physical world – things we can see, smell, taste, touch and experience. Taureans, like other Earth signs, can be very materialistic and sometimes known to over-indulge. Taureans have a skewed value of money and find that even if they don’t have a lot of it, they will spend a lot of it to justify pampering themselves or doing so in the name of “self-care.” This can lead Taureans into money troubles because they tend to spend more than they earn in order to keep up with appearances. Also tying in with the fixed aspect of the Earth sign, when they want something, they have it: be it an object of their desire or a food they crave. Taureans don’t do budgets or diets – they indulge in every aspect of their lives. However, an “evolved” Taurus will try to find security and stability in their lives, which often means sticking to a budget in order to feel financially secure.
Speaking of food, in the astrology community there is a running joke that all Taureans are obsessed with food. It’s true: Taureans love their food and they love to eat. Some Taureans I know have insatiable appetites, but others eat on a regular schedule but don’t cut corners with their food; meaning, they eat what they want, when they want it and don’t sacrifice flavor or texture for something “healthy.” If they want a slice of chocolate cake, they’ll have it, end of story.
When it comes to looks, Taureans have kind faces, typically good complexions and sturdy bodies. Because they tend to be a lazier sign (more on that in a minute) many Taureans are overweight since exercise is usually not a priority. Taureans LOVE to be comfortable and secure, so they often choose luxurious, sensual fabrics like silks and cashmere or fuzzy sweaters. Since they love to indulge in shopping sprees, Taureans tend to have expensive tastes and love receiving expensive, lavish presents.
As I mentioned, Taureans can be lazy. More often than not, a Taurus makes plans when they’re in a good mood but by the time the event-in-question rolls around, they want to cancel because their bed is just.so.cozy. Taureans also enjoy sleeping, napping, and anything that involves lazing around. Naps are good, but Taureans need to remember that there is life happening outside of their cozy bedroom cave, and that they will feel better if they interact with people rather than sleep the day away.
Taurus’ positive traits are that they’re fiercely loyal friends who are extremely trustworthy and reliable. They’re calm and patient, thorough and attentive, gentle, loving and romantic. But expressed negatively, Taureans can be overly self-indulgent, extremely lazy, obstinate and stuck in a rut, incredibly slow-moving, and kind of boring if all they do is lock themselves away in bed. They can also be bordering on being too conservative, but if they’re more evolved that conservatism is more pragmatic and practical than strict.
When I was deciding what kind of cocktail to make this strong-willed Bull, I wanted something sexy, indulgent, easy, and something to savor, since Taureans have expensive taste and appreciate high quality foods and decadence. Thus, these Sparkling Champagne Sorbet Floats were born and I think all Taureans will enjoy them!
They couldn’t be easier to make because there are only 2 ingredients, and the ingredients are customizable to your specific tastes. Don’t like champagne? Use prosecco or rose wine. Don’t care for raspberry sorbet? Feel free to use any other fruit flavor, or experiment with sherbet for a little creaminess.
But for a Bull whose signature color is pink, I found these raspberry ones were just perfect!
