Deliciously Healthy: A Greek Vegan Recipe for Mouthwatering Spanakopita!

What ingredients are used in this vegan Spanakopita recipe?



  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 bunch fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1/2 bunch fresh dill, chopped
  • 1/2 bunch fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 sheets phyllo dough


  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
  2. In a large skillet, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add spinach, dill, parsley, and walnuts and sauté for 3 minutes.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg and stir well.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool.
  6. Brush a baking dish with olive oil.
  7. Place one sheet of phyllo in the dish and brush with olive oil.
  8. Repeat with 4 more sheets of phyllo.
  9. Spread the spinach mixture over the phyllo.
  10. Place the remaining phyllo sheets on top, brushing each layer with olive oil.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  12. Cut into squares and serve hot or cold.
