The Datai Langkawi resort continues with its Chef Series, welcoming some of the best Malaysian culinary talents to entertain its guests with their creativity and flair.
On 6-7 October, the resort will welcome to The Dining Room, two of Malaysia’s outstanding young talents: chef Lee Zhe Xi and chef Soh Yong Zhi from Eat and Cook in Kuala Lumpur, winner of the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants One To Watch award.
The theme is ‘Eclectic Malaysia’ in honour of the country’s rich and diverse cuisine. It will celebrate the influences that make Malaysia such a dynamic multi-ethnic culture, its diverse cuisine and the international experience of its chefs.
Chef Lee Zhe Xi graduated from Berjaya University as a certified and professional chef. He believes food is representative of culture, and places great value on respecting ingredients. For him, food has to be delicious, which he aims to achieve by focusing on his customer’s palate.
Chef Soh Yong Zhi’s cooking philosophy is influenced by Japanese craftsmanship, and each of his dishes are prepared very carefully in pursuit of perfection. When chef Yong plates his dishes, it is not just about making them look perfect, but every single aspect in-between – the flavours, colour pairing, textures and temperatures.
