How to Make a Skillet Cornbread – Eat With Your Eyes

Ingredients: 1 stick of butter 3/4 softened for recipe and the rest to rub in the skillet,1 1/2 cups milk,1 egg,1 tsp salt,1 1/2 tsp baking powder,1/4 cup granulated sugar,1/2 cup all purpose flour,1 1/2 cups ground yellow cornmeal

  1. Heat your oven to 42
  2. When cutting the stick of butter to soften, make sure you keep the last 1/4 to rub all over your skillet. This will help keep the cornbread from sticking to the skillet.
  3. Now here comes the fun part. If you have a Kitchen Aid mixer, just throw everything in there and put it on slow speed for 20 seconds, and then medium speed for another 20 seconds.
  4. Remove from the mixer and pour the mixture into your prepared skillet.
  5. Place into the oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until lightly golden on top and a clean toothpick can be removed from the middle.
  6. Place on a wire rack and allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
