Happy Scorpio Season!
I literally cannot believe it is almost the end of the year. I only have ONE zodiac sign left, you guys. How did this happen?
But for now, let’s focus on the scorpions of the hour: Scorpios! It is officially Scorpio season and I am ready for it.
You can celebrate Scorpio season by: being extremely jealous; having an underlying motive in whatever you do; believing in karma; being cryptic with your messages/communication; being the ultimate sign of passion; loyal to your friends and family; keeping it real with your bluntness and honesty; being very loving but also very logical; being in touch with your emotions; having revenge fantasies; remembering EV.ER.Y.THING; and having the ability to be a human lie detector.
Scorpios are a fixed water sign: ‘fixed’ meaning they are stubborn yet determined, and ‘water’ meaning emotional, sensitive and intuitive with their feelings. The symbol for Scorpio is a scorpion which can come across as scary or intimidating – as can Scorpios! But sometimes the scorpion can be so intent on stinging something that it stings itself in the process. They can be misunderstood or their words misconstrued because of their intensity and passion when they speak, and their borderline obsessive nature.
These bewitching little scorpions are the master detectives of the Zodiac. If you want to know something about someone, ask a Scorpio to do the heavy lifting. Not only are they excellent at keeping secrets, but they can sleuth out secrets from others just as well. However, Scorpios are experts at keeping their own secrets hidden away which can be a challenge for others when trying to get to know them. Scorpios are all about power, and they don’t like relinquishing that power to just anyone. They’re a sign focused on trust and loyalty, so unless you prove that, expect to get fed tiny answers until you can get close enough to really know a Scorpio.
Typically, a Scorpio is very loyal to their family and friends – don’t you dare disrespect a Scorpio’s loved one in front of them, or suffer the consequences of their stinger. Sometimes their loyalty and passion for family and friends can be mistaken for obsession which can be off-putting to someone. They are also passionate about their beliefs and are excellent workers with great work ethics. They NEVER forget OR forgive, so be careful when crossing one. They can be competitive about winning (again, they love their power) but usually work behind the scenes best. Ruthlessly honest, they can be a great force to be reckoned with since they have very high standards. They can be very brave when experiencing adversity, but conversely, can be quite secretive. However, this is a sign with great charisma who loves to pursue their interests with lots of zeal.
When positively expressed, Scorpios can be protective, magnetic, dynamic, compassionate, romantic, emotional, tenacious, probing, passionate, intuitive, sensual and intense. However, expressed negatively, Scorpios can also be ruthless and vindictive, jealous and overly possessive, suspicious, self-destructive, moody, overly secretive, insulting and obstinate, viciously sarcastic or intolerant.
When I was thinking of a cocktail for these moody yet romantic Scorpios, I wanted something that played on that romantic aspect. Sometimes we need to be reminded that Scorpios are a water sign and are known to be flirtatious and easily prone to falling in love (once they trust you, of course). I knew my cocktail had to be dark, mysterious and beautiful but also sensual and sumptuous. No ordinary drink would do! This Love Potion Sangria perfectly represents Scorpios I think!
Made with pinot noir and loads of dark, juicy fruit, this sangria is rich, complex, buttery and mouth-wateringly good! I love how it makes a bold statement with that deep, rich color and the juicy flavor of all those dark fruits. Plus, it can make a pitcher, and while Scorpios aren’t a big party sign like Leos or Sagittariuses, it is perfect to share with the object of their affections… perhaps when trying to get some secrets out of them ?
Zodiac Cocktails – Scorpio: Love Potion Sangria

This Love Potion Sangria is a deep, rich, sumptuous sangria made with pinot noir and lots of dark fruit for a juicy, irresistible and gorgeous cocktail that perfectly represents Scorpios in my Zodiac Cocktail Series!
Ingredients
- One bottle (750 ml) pinot noir wine
- 1 & ½ cups pomegranate juice
- 1 & ½ cups cranberry OR cherry juice (you decide)
- 1 & ¼ cups vodka
- Blackberries, halved if large
- Purple grapes, halved if large
- Pitted dark cherries, halved if large (I used frozen!)
- Pomegranate seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pitcher, combine the pinot noir wine, pomegranate juice, cranberry or cherry juice, and vodka. Stir until combined and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld.
- Just before serving, add some of the fruit to the pitcher and stir to combine. Best if served within 1 day.
