Because these ingredients often show up in my recipes, I get tons of questions and requests for nut free desserts and baked goods.
Nut free friends, have no fear! I have over 50 incredible nut free baked goods on the blog, plus easy ways to help turn some recipes nut free. I broke these nut free recipes down into breads & rolls, muffins, cakes & pies, baked oatmeal, cookies, and bars, so there’s seriously something for everyone here. Easy nut free substitutions
There are some great nut free alternatives to certain nut ingredients that are super easy to swap! If you stumble upon a recipe that has one of these nut-based ingredients, try simply substituting:
- For nut milk: use oat milk to keep the recipe dairy free (learn how to make your own here!), otherwise, feel free to use regular dairy milk. An exception to this is if the recipe calls for canned coconut milk — I would not suggest substituting that for a different milk because it provides such a unique flavor.
- For coconut oil: simply use equal parts butter or vegan butter. Be sure to melt and cool it if the recipe originally calls for melted, cooled coconut oil.
- For almond extract: feel free to use vanilla extract instead. Learn how to make your own here! If the recipe already includes vanilla extract, simply omit the almond extract.
