What ingredients are required to make a traditional Greek lunch?
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. lamb, cut into small pieces
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 red pepper, diced
- 1 green pepper, diced
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 tsp. dried thyme
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 can diced tomatoes, drained
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Feta cheese, for serving
- Pita bread, for serving
Instructions:
In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the lamb and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove the lamb and set aside.
Add the onion, garlic, and peppers to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the oregano, thyme, and cumin and cook for another 2 minutes.
Return the lamb to the pot and add the chicken broth, white wine, and diced tomatoes.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and let simmer for about 45 minutes or until the lamb is tender and the sauce has thickened.
Serve with feta cheese and pita bread.
