I hate shopping. Wait, what?? Out of left field a bit? Wondering what shopping and creamy frozen pudding pops have to do with one another? Maybe nothing, or maybe everything. Just bear with me here.
The thing is, I don’t totally hate shopping. But maybe I’m a little bit weird about shopping? For instance, my favorite clothing item to shop for is shoes, and not because I’m a shoe fanatic, but because they require the least amount of undressing and redressing. And because I’m short, that makes my feet tiny, so I can slip right into the display shoe size. I can try on shoe after shoe after shoe in about two minutes.
So it probably goes without saying that people with big feet hate me.
Also, I prefer to shop alone because there is a wall I always hit where I’m just suddenly done shopping. Either at that store or for an item or for the day. Just, all of a sudden, I’ll be done.
I’ve even been known to put everything back I was intending to purchase and leave the store because I simply didn’t care to be shopping anymore. My mother thinks this is crazy.
But wait there’s more: I have another strange quirk with shopping. I’ll purchase something I didn’t even know I needed, and then suddenly that item becomes the solution to life for a while.
Somehow my new shoes will just go with everything and every time I go to my closet to grab a pair of shoes that new pair is glowing and saying “pick me”!
And then I get completely caught up in this new pair of shoes (or jacket or earrings), and suddenly I’m wearing those shoes every single day and I get the point of thinking how did I ever even live before I got these shoes? No really, what did I actually wear on my feet before these came into my life?

Well that’s how I feel about these Cookies and Cream Pudding Pops. I honestly can’t figure out how I lived before I made them. They’re just that good and feel like a must-make for summertime.
They actually remind me of this cookies and cream concrete flavor (a very, very thick, rich, ice cream) from a place called Nielson’s Frozen Custard in Utah when my husband and I used to go every single week when we were dating.
So, that probably plays a role in my fondness of these popsicles. But honestly, they’re freaking good! Do you like Oreos? Make these. Don’t like Oreos? Make ’em anyway and trust me on this one.

These homemade pudding pops are seriously SO easy! Here’s how you make them.
- Whisk together half-n-half, milk, vanilla, and pudding.
- Stir in chopped Oreo cookies.
- Pour mixture into popsicle molds.
- Freeze for 2 hours or overnight.
When you’re ready to dive into your first Cookies n’ Cream Pudding Pop, just run the plastic mold under hot water for about 20 seconds to loosen the fudge pop from the mold. It should side right out with a little pressure applied to the bottom.
Expert Tips and Customizations
Want to change these fudgesicles up a bit? Here are my favorite ideas:
- Change up the kind of Oreo you use. I have used double stuf, fudge-covered, and Oreo thins.
- You can also use the different flavors, like birthday cake, salted caramel, cinnamon, mint chocolate, chocolate cream, and mega stuf. It all depends on what your grocery store carries.
- Add an ⅛ of a cup of chopped maraschino cherries to the mixture before freezing for a touch of cherries in your Cookies n’ Cream Pops.
- You could also add bits of fresh mint or crushed peppermints to the liquid popsicle mixture.
- I like to dip my popsicles in even more chocolate before eating. To do that, take the number of popsicles out of the freezer that you want to cover in chocolate. Add them to a plate or smaller dish that’s lined with wax paper, and pop back in the freezer while you warm up the chocolate. I like to do this in the microwave, a few seconds at a time, stirring in between, until the chocolate melts. Then you can either dip the frozen pops into the bowl, or spoon the chocolate over, or both. Cover half the Fudge Pop or dip the whole thing in, up to you. Any kind of chocolate will work.
- Add sprinkles to the pudding mixture or sprinkle on top of melted chocolate if you’re dipping.
- Use sugar-free pudding mix if you are watching your sugar intake, and cut the number of Oreos in half.
I think you’ll find that sometimes my shopping oddities work in everyone’s favor, like how I am not sure how I ever lived without this popsicle recipe, and now I’m pretty sure you’ll wonder the same thing too!

In a medium bowl add half and half, milk, vanilla, and pudding mix. Whisk until combined. Stir in chopped oreos. Pour mix into popsicle molds and freeze for 2 hours or overnight.
When ready to eat, run the plastic popsicle molds under hot water for 20 seconds to loosen the pops, then squeeze the bottoms and slide the popsicles out.

In a microwave safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and oil and give it a stir.
Microwave on high for 45 seconds. Stir, and return to microwave for 20 seconds at a time, stirring after each, until completely melted and smooth.
Dip frozen popsicles in the melted chocolate and immediately lay on a parchment or foil-lined tray.
Transfer to freezer or fridge for a few minutes to harden the chocolate coating.
