Jalapeno poppers are a popular party food, but have you ever tried making them at home? These cheese stuffed jalapeno poppers are easy to make and incredibly delicious. The crispy outer layer pairs perfectly with the melted cheese and spicy jalapeno pepper. They’re sure to be a hit at your next party or dinner gathering.
Ingredients:
- 12 jalapeno peppers
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut off the tops of the jalapenos and remove the seeds and membranes. Set them aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, grated cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Stir until well combined.
- Stuff the jalapeno peppers with the cheese mixture. Use a toothpick to hold the peppers together if needed.
- In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, flour, salt and pepper together.
- Dip each stuffed jalapeno in the beaten egg, and then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Place the jalapeno poppers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and serve.
Tips:
- Wear gloves when handling the jalapeno peppers to protect your hands from the spice.
- You can adjust the spiciness of the jalapeno poppers by leaving in some or all of the seeds and membranes.
- If you don’t have breadcrumbs, you can crush up crackers or cornflakes instead.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or salsa.
