A quick and easy homemade ground beef version of Chinese Mongolian beef takeout!

ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (gluten-free or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (gluten-free for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili sauce such as sambal oelek (or to taste)
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup water or beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
directions
  1. Cook the ground beef in a large pan over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Mix the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, chili sauce, garlic, ginger, cornstarch and water, add to the pan along, with the green onions, and cook until the sauce thickens a bit, about a minute.
  3. Remove from heat, mix in the sesame oil.

Option: Add some vegetables to the mix such as broccoli, peas, peppers, etc.
Option: Garnish with toasted sesame seeds or chopped peanuts.
