Can you believe Christmas is just weeks away?! The second Thanksgiving dishes are washed and put away, we are ready for all things Christmas. Baking, decorating, SANTA, presents, and so much more. One of my very favorite parts of the holiday season are all the PIES. I’ve yet to meet a pie I don’t love, so I thought throwing a little Holiday Pie Party this year would be a fun way to get the family together, have some laughs and really good food, and kick off the Christmas festivities.

You guys know I’m all about using premade items to make a party that much better, and today I have an extra special treat to share. Edward’s Desserts have been my go-to for pies since before I was married, but this time around I thought it would be fun to use their AMAZING pies as key ingredients in new desserts, elevating my Holiday Pie Party to new heights. Their pies are ridiculously decadent and delicious on their own, but are also perfect when used to make new and creative holiday desserts! I used their Hershey’s Chocolate Cream Pie to make Chocolate Pie S’more Dip and their Georgia Pecan Pie to make Fried Pecan Pie Bites. Both recipes were a huge hit at the Pie Party with both kids and adults alike, and the party couldn’t have been easier to throw together. That’s the beauty of relying on a trusted brand like Edward’s to make sure your party is a hit each and every time.

The only challenge with this type of party is keeping the kids from digging in as soon as they get to the table. They wanted to try EVERYTHING, from the whole pies to the fun twists on the classics. Desdi’s favorite was the Chocolate Pie S’mores Dip and Ezra was a sucker for the Georgia Style Pecan Pie. Can you blame him? Look at that velvety goodness!

Henry was too little to sample any actual pie this year, but he will get his chance next year. We plan to make this a yearly tradition and come up with new creative desserts every year. I already have a few ideas. Pecan Pie Concretes, Chocolate Cream Pie Parfaits…the list goes on and on. We’d love to hear your ideas!!

Ingredients

    For Fried Pecan Pie Bites

  • 1 Edward’s Desserts Georgia Style Pecan Pie, frozen
  • canola oil
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 3/4 cup soda water
  • powdered sugar for garnish
  • For Chocolate Pie S’mores Dip

  • 1 Edward’s Desserts Hershey’s Chocolate Cream Pie, thawed
  • 2 cups large marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • graham crackers for dipping

Instructions

    For Fried Pecan Pie Bites

  1. Heat 2 inches of oil in a large stock pot or dutch oven over medium high heat. Heat the oil to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, egg, and soda water until smooth. Spray your hands with nonstick spray.
  3. While waiting for the oil to heat, use a small ice cream scoop to scoop the pie into 1 inch balls. Roll with your hands to create an even look. Use a fork to dip the ball completely in the batter mixture, making sure all sides are covered. Once oil is cooked, cook in batches, 3-4 at a time. Once browned and crispy, remove with a slotted spoon and allow to drain on a paper towel lined plate.
  4. Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.
  5. For Chocolate Pie S’mores Dip

  6. Turn on the broiler in your oven to 550F
  7. Use a hand mixer to carefully blend up the inside of the Hershey’s Chocolate Cream Pie. Be careful not to get the crust at the bottom or sides. As long as the pie is fully thawed, this should be pretty easy.
  8. Once blended and smooth, top the pie with large marshmallows. Sprinkle with Chocolate Chips.
  9. Broil the pie for 1-2 minutes or until the chocolate is melted and marshmallows are toasted. This can happen FAST, so watch carefully.
  10. Remove and serve immediately with graham crackers for dipping.
  11. Enjoy!
