Buttermilk Coffee Cake – Eat With Your Eyes

Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour,1 tablespoon baking powder,1/2 teaspoon baking soda,1 1/2 cups brown sugar,1 1/2 cups brown sugar,2 cups buttermilk,2 large eggs, lightly beaten,1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon,1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg,1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans, almonds, hezelnuts or,1/2 teaspoon salt,1 cup unsalted butter
Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.Grease the bottom of a 13x9x2-inch baking pan; set aside.In a large bowl combine flour, sugar and salt.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; set aside 1/2 cup.Stir baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg into remaining crumb mixture.In a medium bowl combine eggs and buttermilk.
  3. Add egg mixture to flour mixture, stirring just until moistened.Spoon batter into prepared pan.Stir together reserved crumb mixture and nuts and sprinkle over batter.
  4. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.Cool slightly and serve warm.
