Editor’s Note: If you can’t get to New York City, then bring a bit of New York City to your home with this recipe for Street-Cart Pretzels! This vegan recipe is one you can serve for almost any occasion — card night, a game watch party, family get-togethers, you name it. You’ll also love broadening your culinary horizons when you learn how to make pretzels from scratch. While you can definitely serve these pretzels with mustard, consider including your favorite marinara sauce, pesto, hummus, or other dips as options. Store-bought pretzels won’t be the same after you’ve made your own pretzels from scratch with this recipe.

The soft pretzel has been sold on the streets of New York City since at least the 1820s. Today, they are sold from ubiquitous metal carts found all over Manhattan and always offered with mustard.
