The BakerMama’s Basics

Welcome to The BakerMama’s Basics! I created this how-to series to help beginner cooks hone their skills, make the most of their time in the kitchen, and create great family memories. I hope you enjoy!

How to Cook Rice

Light, fluffy, aromatic rice is a staple at our house. Dressed up in a rice salad or in a super comforting Cheesy Broccoli Rice Casserole, this kitchen basic is anything but. And with a little know-how, it’s easy to get it right every time.

First, combine rice, water, salt, and butter in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir once and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 5-10 minutes. This lets the rice absorb more moisture. Fluff with a fork and serve!

That’s all there is to it! Enjoy!

I hope you find these simple basics helpful! When you make something with the help of my BakerMama’s Basics series, be sure to snap a picture and tag me on Instagram @thebakermama so I can see and others can be inspired!
